Voice Recording Software for iPhone
Voice recording is an essential tool for most lawyers. Important interviews, taped phone calls (with consent, of course), and voice dictation of thoughts / notes are all ways that voice recording can be useful. The iPhone has both free and for-a-small-fee software that you can add to your iPhone from the App Store. After reading through the reviews, features, and price of all of the different apps to choose from, I settled on iTalk. The software can sync with your Mac or PC using iTalkSync. It’s pretty fast over wifi too. The recordings are stored in AIFF format. Simple, easy-to-use, free, and extemely useful. If you have an iPhone, this is a must-have.
As a side note, once you acquire the recording, many times you will want a transcript of the dictation. One such service exists online at http://www.legaltypist.com/how-we-do-it/
This company will allow you to upload your audio file, and they will do all the transcribing. Another similar service you can check out is SpeakWrite. As of the date of writing, SpeakWrite charges 1.5 cents per word for legal transcription.

By the way, to record a consensual 2-way phone call, you will need to be on a speakerphone (and on a separate phone). This software does not record iPhone call conversations.
